Domestic cement producers planned to increase cement prices by 8-9% by end of this month, the local news provider reported, citing information from Domestic Prices Management Agency under the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

The decision of increasing cement prices was given amid input price hikes, Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) said in its recent report, providing that the average electricity price for cement production was increased by 5% from Aug 1, 2013.

In August, cement was offered at VND1.28– VND1.56 million per tons in the northern and central area and VND1.60- VND1.64 million per tons in the southern region, the Finance Departments nationwide said.

Domestic cement producers’ annual output is estimated at 66 million tons.

In 2013, cement consumption is expected to increase by 4-5% to 56-57 million tons, including 48-49 million tons of domestic sales and 7.5 million-8 million tons of export.
